The Scottish Difference

A letter from our founder: Martin Faith

For over four centuries, the world has been graced with the luminous art of stained glass, a testament to both history’s legacy and contemporary innovation. At Scottish Stained Glass, I’ve dedicated the past 25 years to honing a process that elevates this time-honored craft to new heights—right here in America’s homes. My journey began in the storied workshops of Glasgow, where I mastered the venerable techniques of traditional stained glass, only to re-imagine them at my own stained glass studio upon my arrival in the United States in the early 1990s.

Discover the Scottish Difference in

Stained Glass Artistry

The ‘Scottish Stained Glass’ method is a symphony of the old and the new. We blend the classic with the cutting-edge, utilizing deep-hued leads and seamless solder joints, precision in soldering temperatures, and a signature polishing technique that brings out the sublime beauty of each piece. This meticulous approach is complemented by our hybrid design process that marries computer-assisted precision with the irreplaceable artistry of freehand drawing. The result? A collection of custom glass work that speaks volumes in clarity and quality.

In today’s market, it’s disheartening to see stained glass that doesn’t quite meet the mark—pieces where the leads and joints are mismatched, the lines misaligned, and the proportions and hues just shy of harmonious. It’s a common shortfall where the absence of modern tools like computer graphics to refine designs before production becomes glaringly obvious. All too often, stained glass that appears splendid from a distance loses its luster upon closer inspection.

But here at Scottish Stained Glass, we take no shortcuts. Utilizing Photoshop and CAD technology, we ensure absolute precision before the first cut is made. At our stained glass studio, our designs undergo rigorous reviews—at least eight to ten iterations, including a final critique with you, our client—to guarantee that what you envision is what you receive. I invite you to peruse our gallery and witness the meticulous detail and unparalleled quality that is synonymous with our name.

Yes, we may trumpet our own horn, but in a landscape filled with whispers, sometimes the lion’s roar is a call to excellence.
