Our team transformed a brilliantly bright window into a stunning stained glass cross that not only added beauty to the church but also solved a practical problem.
Preserving Historical Elements
The Church Of The Hills faced a significant challenge. The amount of light streaming through the existing window was so overwhelming that it was practically blinding parishioners during services. Adding to the complexity, we had to integrate the stained glass into the original wooden cross divisions already present in the window. This project demanded not only artistic talent but also respect for the church’s existing structural elements.
The Artistic Journey
We aimed to create a colorful stained glass cross window that complemented the wooden cross divisions while maintaining the church’s structure. We kept the original steel frames intact, carefully removing the existing glass. This allowed us to design a window that worked harmoniously with the existing framework. The original plan incorporated fairly dark colors to effectively reduce excess light.
The Beauty of Beveled Glass
One of the most striking aspects of this project is the use of beveled glass around the cross.
