Custom Celtic designs

As you might suspect from the name of our company, here at Scottish Stained Glass we absolutely love creating custom Celtic designs for our clients across Colorado. And although we can claim the ancient Celts as part of our heritage, you might be a huge fan of all things Celtic regardless of your heritage.

Celtic music, Celtic design, Celtic philosophy, Celtic knots, and of course, last but very hardly least in our opinion, Celtic stained glass.

This style includes flowing lines, elaborate knot patterns, and the heritage of the Celts, who used their art to express their thoughts and feelings about the nature of life, the afterlife, and humanity’s connection with the Infinite.

You might notice that most of them are made of colorless and beveled glass. That’s because most of our residential customers want stained glass that enhances a room without making a bright colorful statement. They want it to blend in and match with any color scheme.

But that does not mean that Celtic Stained Glass cannot be vividly colored and make a large, dramatic impact. If you have an Irish bar or restaurant, a brightly colored piece of Celtic stained glass in your front door, your windows, or even the backdrop behind your bar would be appropriate and gorgeous, something your customers would not soon forget.

If you are wondering who were the Celts, according to LiveScience.com, “the term often refers to the cultures, languages and people that are based in Scotland, Ireland, other parts of the British Isles and Brittany in France.” Their history dates back to the B.C. era, with references to them found dating back 2500 years. And though people usually consider the ancient Celts to have lived in the British Isles, in fact they were tribes that were spread out across northern Europe.

So it’s possible that Celtic stained glass has a more ancient heritage than we know. What we do know for sure is that this is a beautiful style that can work in a wide variety of architectural styles and décors.
